Science After School: Strategic Investments that Improve Quality, Build Scale and Ensure Equity
5/13/2009

Web Seminar presented by Grantmakers for Education Out-of-School Time (OST) Funders Network.

The emerging field of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in OST includes scientists, educators, youth development practitioners and funders. In exciting ways, all are working creatively and strategically to ensure young people have access to high quality, engaging STEM experiences that spark their interest and curiosity and reinforce in-school learning.

Join Ron Ottinger, Executive Director of the Noyce Foundation, Gloria Jackson, Director, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and Lucy Friedman, President of The After School Corporation (TASC) to discuss the important role funders are playing in this emerging field. With substantial discussion time, the agenda will focus on: presenting the case for STEM in OST; identifying pressing challenges to achieving scale, equitable access, and quality; and discussing current and potential collaborative funding efforts.
