Education Without Limits: Shaping the Future of Grantmaking

As grantmakers, we cheer from the sidelines and influence from the inner circle. We bring people together when they are divided. We open forums for discussion and offer important opportunities—that no one else does—to take big risks, to make big gains. We are without limits in our vision of a future where outcomes for all learners improve and with them, the strength of our nation.

Times are changing. Societal forces are challenging our traditional role. New types and ways of investing in education are emerging. The boundaries are blurring as walls between political, economic and social issues dissolve. Our new reality is more interconnected than it has ever been and change is the norm. Within this context, we must come together, reach across sectors and become more anticipatory and proactive to prepare for what’s next.

At the 19th Annual Grantmakers for Education Conference Education Without Limits: Shaping the Future of Grantmaking, you will learn how grantmakers are working independently, collaboratively, across the spectrum of education, and in partnership with other sectors to ensure that the nation fulfills its promise of excellent and equitable public education for every learner today and into the future. You will be immersed in a program that breaks down silos, bridges the gap between now and next and equips you with the tools and knowledge required to shape the future.

This year, we will gather in California, a state educating more than six million students, in 1,000 districts, in more than 11,000 K-12 schools. The state is also home to more colleges and universities than any other in the nation, and with more than 2.1 million students on 112 campuses, California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation. In a nod to our Bay Area location, we will take advantage of local sites and expertise to gain insight into how technology, the arts and our environment can improve experiences for learners.

This unique gathering, like GFE’s flourishing network, is unrivaled in its size and focus. It brings together grantmakers from coast-to-coast, from organizations large and small. Together, we will seek answers to such questions as: What can we learn from trend research? Will present strategies create future inequalities? How will we exercise our power as grantmakers to empower future generations?

Don’t miss your chance to learn how grantmakers are positioning themselves to embrace the challenges ahead and shape the future through their grantmaking.
