Helping Students Secure Their Basic Needs

Virtual

On September 28, 2022 at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, the Biden-Harris Administration announced that Benefits Data Trust would be releasing a toolkit in early 2023 to help colleges identify students who are likely eligible for SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, the Child Tax Credit, and the new Affordable Connectivity Program that provides $30 a month toward internet service. With the COVID emergency declaration set to end on May 11, 2023, and with it, college student SNAP eligibility reverting to pre-COVID rules, it will be critically important to help students access these benefits. This webinar will walk participants through this soon-to-be-released toolkit, discuss how the state of California put these ideas into action to address food insecurity on college campuses, and answer any questions you may have about how to pursue these approaches in your state.
