Roosevelt High Beyond Black and White

The Funders Network

Virtual

This film reviews the history of racial integration in Seattle's public schools and highlights the city's history of discriminatory housing practices and its consequences, which are still felt today. Featuring historical footage and the voices of alums, educators and current students, this documentary seeks to stimulate a difficult yet needed conversation about race and education.

We'll hear from members of RARE about the intent and impact of this film during a panel discussion following the screening. The conversation will be moderated by Jonathan Cunningham, a TFN PLACES alum and deputy director of 4Culture, a cultural funding agency in Washington's King County that supported the documentary.
