Addressing the Increase in Uncertified Teachers

Education Commmission of the States

Virtual

While the nationwide teacher shortage is not new, state education leaders continue to explore new and innovative pathways for qualified individuals to enter the profession.

The Southern Regional Education Board forecasts that, by 2030, 16 million K-12 students in the South may have a teacher who was not provided adequate supports and resources before entering the classroom. As states respond to ongoing teacher shortages, hiring qualified, prepared teachers is critical for student achievement and teacher retention.

Join Education Commission of the States, in collaboration with Teachers of Tomorrow, to learn how states can tackle teacher shortages and place qualified teachers into classrooms.
