Innovations in Supporting Youth Mental Health in Out-of-School Time: OST Monthly Field Convening

Grantmakers for Education

Virtual

May 17, 2024, 12:00 pm ET

America’s young people are navigating social media stress and bullying, fallout from pandemic isolation, trauma and grief, and attacks on their racial, religious and gender identities, among other challenges - all contributing to a deepening mental health crisis.

Out-of-school settings can be uniquely positioned to support youth mental health and wellness, but often face inadequate funding and staff capacity to do so. Join EdFunders out-of-school time community as we talk with youth development leaders, mental health professionals and funders in Louisville, Kentucky and Southeastern Michigan about how they have developed innovative solutions to support youth mental health and wellness. This program is the first in a two-part series on mental health, with the second session on Friday, June 21, 12:00-1:00 pm ET.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Tiffany Abrego, PhD, LP, Executive Director of Behavioral Health and Licensed Psychologist, Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Michigan and Associate Professor of Psychology, Wayne State University
  • Jo Cruz, Senior Trainer, Bounce Coalition, Louisville, KY
  • Nicole Eovino Diebold, Program Officer, C.E.& S. Foundation, Louisville, KY
  • Da’Marrion Fleming, Executive Director & President, Sowing Seeds with Faith, Louisville, KY
  • Micah Jorrisch, Chief Community Officer, Maryhurst, Louisville, KY
