This historical webinar will reflect on the enduring legacy of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case, as it delves into crucial policy considerations in today's educational landscape, reflecting on the enduring legacy of the Brown v. Board of Education case. This virtual event promises engaging discourse as panelists offer insights into the policy levers necessary to uphold the ideals set forth by the case.

Hosted by American University's School of Education in collaboration with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the event marks the 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education.

Speakers: 

Dr. Travis J. Bristol is an Associate Professor of Teacher Education and Education Policy in the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Education.

Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, is the President and CEO of the Learning Policy Institute.

Zaretta Hammond is a teacher educator and the author of Culturally Responsive Teaching and The Brain: Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students.

Dr. Phelton Cortez Moss, moderator, is a Senior Professorial Lecturer in the Education Policy and Leadership program, is Acting Director of the Education Policy and Leadership Masters Program, and an Inclusive Pedagogy Fellow in the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning at American University.

Cheryl Brown Henderson is one of the three daughters of the late Rev. Oliver L. Brown.
