Experience Prosperity in Practice: Site Visit to Purpose Built Communities
October 7-8, 2026
Grantmakers for Education is partnering with Purpose Built Communities to host Experience Prosperity in Practice, an immersive site visit in Atlanta on Oct. 7-8, 2026. Participants will explore the nationally recognized East Lake neighborhood, where the Purpose Built model originated, and learn how place-based strategies can drive lasting community transformation.
Day 1: Experience the Model in Action
The first day centers on an immersive exploration of East Lake, including guided neighborhood tours, conversations with community leaders, a visit to Drew Charter School, and discussions with Purpose Built Communities leadership. Participants will also hear from national thought leaders and philanthropic leaders about strategies for advancing resident-centered neighborhood transformation.
Day 2: From Learning to Action
Hosted at United Way of Greater Atlanta, the second day focuses on the connections among education, housing and community well-being. Through featured conversations, panel discussions and a funder roundtable, participants will explore how cross-sector partnerships can translate insights into philanthropic strategy and action
