Getting Non-degree Community College Programs Right: Centering Quality

New America

Virtual and Washington, D.C.

This half-day summit, held both virtually and in person, will feature presentations from the lead authors from New Models for Career Preparation, Iris Palmer and Shalin Jyotishi, and panel discussions moderated by journalists Paul Fainand Goldie Blumenstyk.

To address how to design high-quality non-degree programs, the Center on Education and Labor at New America (CELNA), with support from Lumina Foundation, launched the New Models for Career Preparation research and storytelling project. We conducted research to understand how these programs at community colleges could be designed in a high-quality manner and to unpack how community colleges themselves can transform to excel at non-degree workforce education.
