Immigrants Are Welcome Here: Centering Belonging, Inclusivity, and Resilience for Youth

In a recent survey published by UCLA’s Institute for Democracy, Education, and Access, US high school principals report that immigration enforcement is causing harm to their school communities – including fear and anxiety among students and families, lost enrollment, and declining attendance and learning.

Join GTY, the authors of The Fear is Everywhere report and high school students and teachers for a discussion about the report’s findings, how schools and communities can respond and the implications for grantmakers supporting youth to thrive.

Speakers:

  • John Rogers, Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Research and Public Scholarship, UCLA School of Education and Information Studies;
  • Joseph Kahne, Dutton Presidential Professor of Education Policy and Politics, University of California, Riverside;
  • and students/teachers from Internationals Network for Public Schools.
