Tuesday, June 7, 2:00-3:30 pm: Funders’ Role in Improving Job Quality in the Youth Development Field

In Fall 2021, the OST Impact Group hosted a series of conversations in its Monthly Stakeholder Calls about the youth development workforce. The discussions addressed challenges and emerging solutions to hiring and retaining staff; policy opportunities; strategies for building diverse pipelines of leaders in the field; and thinking about a comprehensive agenda that could lead to systems level change to support the workforce.

In the June 7 Bimonthly Funder Meetup, we’ll revisit the workforce discussions and learn about two emerging efforts to address job quality. First, National Afterschool Association will share its progress in developing a framework for increasing job quality for the afterschool/OST field. We’ll also hear from speakers from the Families & Workers Fund along with their philanthropic & Department of Labor partners to learn about their efforts to increase and measure job quality with the goal of creating a more equitable economy.

Speakers:

  • Jenny Weissbourd, Families & Workers Fund, Senior Program Manager, Policy & Partnerships

  • Chike Aguh, U.S. Department of Labor, Chief Innovation Officer
  • Angelica Portillo, National Afterschool Association, Director of Advocacy and Workforce Initiatives

Please join us in this funder-only learning space to learn about these emerging efforts and how funders can help move the work forward. If you have not already registered, click here.
