Supporting Youth Work Professionals Through Communities of Practice: Out-of-School Time Monthly Field Convening

Grantmakers for Education

Virtual

November 21, 12:00 pm ET

Join the EdFunders OST Impact Group on Friday, November 21, 12:00-1:00PM ET as we shine our spotlight on communities of practice supporting youth work professionals. We’ll learn about two examples:

  • San Antonio, Texas: UP Partnership’s Excel Academy  EA strengthens youth workers’ capacity to build trusting, inclusive and intentional relationships with youth in their programs so every young person in San Antonio has access to the relationships and emotional support they need.
  • California: Partnership for Children & Youth’s Linking, Learning, Leading (3LN) Workforce Development Network. The 3LN Network is starting its second cohort focused on  building community and promoting collaboration and collective action by testing new strategies and innovations to support the youth development workforce in California.

We’ll also discuss how the implementation of communities of practice fits into a broader framework for supporting the workforce. Dr. Diane Hsieh, Research Scientist at Search Institute, will explain findings from Search Institute’s 3-year study of Excel Academy, funded by the John Templeton Foundation, which resulted in the Communities of Practice Implementation Guide.

Speakers:

  • Diane Hsieh, PhD, Research Scientist, Search Institute
  • liz moseley, Director,  K-12 & Youth Development, UP Partnership
  • Guadalupe "Lupita" Ramirez, Senior Director of Programs,  Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio
  • Aleah Rosario, Co-Executive Director, Partnership for Children & Youth

This webinar is free and open to all. Register once for our monthly series and join as your schedule allows.
