Winning Sustained Public Financing for Out-of-School Time: Generating Revenue to Fill the Gap

What: A multi-session learning opportunity focused on strategic public financing for children and youth. Topics will include:

  • Generating revenue to fill the gap (March 15, 2-3:30p EST): Discussing shared principles for revenue generation and local funding examples, especially related to workforce compensation and job quality.
  • Moving the work forward (May 17, 2-3:30pm EST): Identifying action items that funders can do today to advance sustained public financing for child and youth programs.
  • Past session: Understanding the true cost of OST (November 16, 2-3:30p EST): Hearing from partners with cost modeling and cost estimation work underway; Discussing the value of cost modeling for addressing job quality improvement.
  • Past session: Understanding current public investment in OST (January 18, 2-3:30p EST): Connecting Funders with state, local and regional fiscal mapping efforts

Who: Grantmakers for Education (EdFunders) member funders, facilitated by the Children’s Funding Project.

When: Four 90-minute meetings over the course of the fall 2022 to spring 2023.

Why:  It’s a once-in-a-generation moment to access sustainable public funding for children and youth. Join your peer funders in learning about how to help communities seize this opportunity and create sustainable revenue!
 
This learning community is open to members of Grantmakers for Education who are funders. Since this is a learning cohort, we hope that you can attend all sessions, but understand if you are unable to make it to every one.
