Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth to Thrive: A Conversation with Field Leaders about LGBTQ+ Youth Wellness

Grantmakers for Thriving Youth

Virtual

Across the country, policies are becoming increasingly hostile to the LGBTQ+ community. Young people are deeply impacted by policies and practices designed to stigmatize and isolate them. Our panelists will discuss how LGBTQ+ youth are impacted by these policies and practices, offer general indicators of wellness among LGBTQ+ youth, including belonging, inclusivity, identity, and physical and emotional safety, and share practices that allow the young people in their communities to thrive. We’ll discuss:
-Strategies to support LGBTQ+ youth inclusivity;
-How organizations are supporting LGBTQ+ safety amidst increasing attacks on their physical and emotional safety; and
-how funders can center the inclusivity, belonging, and safety of LGBTQ+ youth.

Speakers:
-Antonia Caba, MPH; PhD candidate in Human Development and Family Sciences, University of Connecticut
-Maryse Pierce, Program Manager, Stonewall Community Foundation
-Alex Roque, President and Executive Director, the Ali Forney Center
-Moderator: Ayeola Kinlaw, Facilitator, Grantmakers for Thriving Youth

Supporting Immigrant Youth to Thrive: An Action-Focused Discussion

Immigrant youth are targeted by an onslaught of hostile actions designed to disrupt the safety and security of their families and communities and bar their access to education and economic wellbeing. To find solutions in this uniquely challenging environment, we have to listen to immigrant youth leaders. Join GTY and the TYP Collaborative to hear our panel share their experiences and recommendations on how we can hold the line for immigrant youth now—and hold steadfast to a collective vision of a welcoming and equitable future.
